Addison Township Board of Trustees Gives Final Approval to Library Site Plan

March 22, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The vote was unanimous.

Last night at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Addison Township Board of Trustees the Trustees voted unanimously to accept a resolution approving the Site Plan for the new Library.

An initial Site Plan was submitted to the Township Planning Board in May of 2021. A resolution letter approving the Site Plan was adopted at the November 9, 2021 Planning Board Meeting with the recommendation for approval by the Township Trustees.

Between November 9, 2021 and March 21, 2022 the New Building Committee Chair, James Elsarelli worked with all parties to address any final issues with our Plan. After the vote last night, Elsarelli said, “This was a great milestone for the Library and community. I am excited to continue progress on this project and look forward to the next phases.”

Work will begin on the new library as soon as possible.

Addison Township Public Library to Receive $500,000 Federal Grant to Build New Library

March 11, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

U.S. Senate Passes Historic FY 2022 Omnibus Spending Bill

Last night the United States Senate voted 68 – 31 to approve the FY 2022 Omnibus Spending Bill. President Biden is expected to sign it into law in the coming days.

Included in that Bill is a request for $500,000.00 to go toward the construction of Addison Township’s first Library building.

It’s been an incredible honor to have had our project chosen for this funding. Not all of the “Community Funded Projects” brought before the Senate received all of the funding which was requested. Ours did. According to Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin — “our project made the final cut based on the strength of our application and the broad support shown by the community.” We expect to receive the funds within 6-months.

Work will begin on the new library as soon as possible.

It’s an incredible honor to have had our project chosen for this funding. We remain hopeful that our project, along with all of the other Community Funded projects remain in the Appropriations bill. Funding in full or in part helps us reach our goal to build the first community owned library facility in the history of Addison Township, thus powering our potential to improve literacy, education and technology for the whole community.

Township Library Project Makes it Into House FY2022 Appropriations Bill

July 19, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Township Library Project Makes it Into House FY2022 Appropriations Bill

Township Library officials learned late last week that their “Community Project Funding” request for $500k has made it out of the U. S. House Appropriations Committee and into the House FY2022 Appropriations Bill. The Bill still needs to be ratified by both the House and Senate which is not expected until late this year.

Things could change in the Bill, but it’s important to acknowledge the significance of the Library’s request making it out of Committee and into the Bill.

Here is a link to the complete list of all “Community Funded Projects” in the Bill.

It must be stated that only ten projects can be selected for consideration and that not all ten will be successfully funded.

On behalf of Addison Township, we feel honored to be selected for the next stage of consideration. Funding in full or in part helps us reach our goal to build the first community owned library facility in the history of Addison Township, thus powering our potential to exponentially improve literacy, education and technology for the whole community!
